24/01: westport bis kumara

erst mal danke an den sven, der fuer mich eingesprungen ist und die richtigen links zu den bildern gepostet hat. ich gelobe feierlich, dass es ab jetzt immer funktionieren wird (und bin jetzt schon sicher, dass ich es wieder mal verbocken werde). hab zwischenzeitlich hoffentlich alle links richtiggestellt und harre mal der dinge...

aber zurueck zum text: an der westkueste  wurde es wieder ein bisschen touristischer. wir haben fuer euch einen teil der westkueste erkundet und ein pferderennen besucht.

hier sind die bilder, den rest wie immer unten 



in westport haben wir uns hauptsaechlich fuer das cape foulwind interessiert. touristisch ohne ende ist es doch auch recht interessant, von oben auf eine seehundkolonie hinunterzuschauen. tjo, und genau das haben wir dann auch gemacht. lustigerweise hat sich auch an diesem tag die sonne wieder einmal gezeigt, was wir zu einem romantischen abendessen an der kueste genutzt haben :)

danach gings fuer uns schnell weiter richtung sueden. auf dem weg haben wir zwischenstop bei einem deutschen auswanderer gemacht, der ein gasthaus eroeffnet hat und recht schmackhafte sachen serviert hat - in dem fall auch fuer uns, weil man sich ab und an was goennen darf :) uebernachtet haben wir dann direkt an der kueste... atemberaubend!

am naechsten tag ging es sehr frueh los, um die weltberuehmten pancakerocks inkls. blowholes zu sehen. die felsen waren dann auch wie versprochen da, die gischt wollte aber nicht durch sie hindurch spritzen, und so wars irgendwie nur halb so schoen... und dann hats natuerlich auch geregent. was soll ich sagen... extra um 6 aufgestanden, nur um nass zu werden. aber was solls. die steine waren ja nicht so schlecht... und dann haben wir noch unsere ersten wekas gesehen, flugunfaehige voegel, die durchs gebuesch streifen und sehr sehr neugierig sind.

in greymouth haben wir dann unsere vorraete wiederaufgefuellt und uns auf die suche nach einem autoverwerter gemacht. leider ist uns beim kofferraum ein teil durchgerostet (und zwar die halterung fuer den kofferraumoffenhalter (in ermangelung technischen wissens nenn ich das jetzt einfach mal so)) - leider waren wir erfolglos, aber vielleicht koennen wir das ganze dann in queenstown machen...

trotz des recht starken regens haben wir uns dann auf nach kumara gemacht, weil uns original jeder gefragt hat, ob wir denn "zum rennen" gehen. dort angekommen haben wir dann auch gesehen, um was es sich handelt, naemlich einen galopperevent aehnlich denen in der freudenau. nur das es nicht ganz so praetentioes zugeht, wie man das von neuseeland auch erwarten wuerde. wir haben uns gerne unter das illustre publikum gemischt, sind mit ihnen durch den schlamm gestapft und haben pferde wie jockeys bewundert. das ganze war wie ein volksfest, und in der tat sollen leute sogar vom ausland extra fuer diesen event heimkommen (erinnert mich irgendwie an den gluehkindlmarkt in bludenz am 23,12,) 

irgendwann wurde uns der regen aber zuviel und wir haben uns auf zum lake brunner gemacht. ist keine hommage an den spirituosenliebenden suedtiroler, der die marketinggeschicke von freihof leitet, sondern eben der zuletzt schon angesprochene entdecker,

was dort und darueber hinaus passiert ist, gibts dann beim naechsten mal
