21/11: mit dem chepe durch nordmexico

so, hier nun die nachgereichten bilder des "missing links" zwischen guadalajara und creel... beeindruckende bilder von einer der schoensten eisenbahnstrecken der welt von der kueste ins bergige innenland des noerdlichsten bundestaates chihuahua.

nach unseren abendteuern in guadalajara (leider ohne den besuch im nahen oertchen tequila... waere aber eh wohl nur eine touristenfalle gewesen) sind wir dann frohgemut richtung los mochis an der westkueste aufgebrochen. wieder einmal erwarteten uns 14h kurzweilige stunden in einem der bequemen reisebusse... gegen norden hin war der luxus zwar nur mehr halb so gross, aber zwischenzeitlich waren wir an die strapazen einer so langen busfahrt schon gewoehnt und kamen dementsprechend relativ fit zur mitte des naechsten tages an.

los mochis ist ein recht junge stadt - mit knapp 100 jahren eigentlich noch ein baby, aber doch schon recht gross gewachsen und mit einem typisch amerikanischen schachbrett-layout. dementsprechend leicht war die orientierung, aber auch langweilig fuer den besucher. am interessantesten war noch das gesprach kurz nach dem ankommen mit einem eingeborenen, der uns seine lebensgeschichte offenbarte. daneben haben wir eigentlich nur 3h ein internetcafe bevoelkert, um ein paar artikel zu schreiben, um dann frueh ins bett zu gehen - jedoch nicht ohne jagd auf den gecko (oder was auch immer das recht grosse vieh in unserem zimmer war) gemacht zu haben (erfolglos, war klar... dafuer gabs auch keine moskitos *g*)

am naechsten tag gings dann in aller frueh zum bahnhof, wo um 7 uhr unser zug in richtung creel fahren sollte. der chepe, wie der "chihuahua al pacifico" im volksmund heisst, verbindet chihuahua mit los mochis (also der kueste), ist knapp 650km lang und startet von knapp 100m sehe einen sagenhaften aufstieg auf 2400m. dabei ueberwindet er unzaelige schluchten und fuehrt durch knapp 90 tunnel - wirklich ein meisterwerk mexikanischer ingenieurskunst. die szenerie entlang der strecke vermag es aber noch, diese zahlenspiele zu toppen. es geht vorbei an unendlich weiten feldern, durch riesige ranchen und verlassene ortschaften. die berge wachsen empor, schluchten und canyons tun sich auf. kurz vor creel wird dann der hoehepunkt der reise erreicht: der kupfercanyon, seineszeichens fast 2000m tief und im verbund groesser wie der grand canyon in den benachbarten usa. genau dort haben wir dann, nach 10h fahrt, einen schmackhaften snack und den ausblick genossen, bevor es nach weiteren 2 stunden dann nicht nur dunkel wurde, sondern wir auch endlich todmuede creel erreicht hatten.

und genau dort hat die letzte geschichte angefangen :)
beim naechsten mal gibts alles zur hauptstadt des gleichnamigen bundesstaates (chihuahua), und das wars dann mit mexico (fuer jetzt)
