04/02: weihnachtreise, letzter teil... und silvester :)

hui, mittlerweile ists schon einen monat her, darum erinnere ich mich ehrlich gesagt nicht mehr, wo der sehr schoene strand war - zumindest nicht genau. ich glaub wir waren oberhalb von newcastle, ca. 1,5h ausserhalb von sydney. noch einmal haben wir die wellen genossen (diesesmal leider kleiner als in surfers paradise), bevor es ab in das voll im silversterfieber liegende sydney ging.

den 31. haben wir mit einem spaziergang durch die stadt verbracht; die vorbereitungen fuer den abend waren voll im gange, und die menschen schon am vormittag unterwegs, um sich die besten plaetze zu sichern. die schlange vor dem botanischen garten war um 11 geschaetzt ueber einen km lang...
aber auch sonst gings ueberall richtig zur sache. uns war schon vorher klar, dass es gross werden wuerde, aber so gross war dann doch ueberraschend. dachten wir am nachmittag.
dann kam der fruehe abend, der uns zum vorabendprogramm in den darling harbour, und dort ins imax fuehrte (hobbit). schon bei unserer ankunft war es voll, aber als wir um halb 9 das kino verliessen, war praktisch keine luft mehr zum atmen. darum musste sich auch die claudia erst muehsam zu uns durchkaempfen (sie hatte im kino gefehlt), um dann um 9 das erste feuerwerk zu bewundern. gottseidank hat sich die masse danach etwas verlaufen, und wir konnten uns wenigstens halbwegs bewegen - was wir dann auch getan haben, und schliesslich in der naehe der docks einen hervorragenden aussichtspunkt gefunden haben. alle anderen plaetze waren laut der extra fuer den abend verbreiteten app wegen ueberfuellung bereits abgesperrt... kuenststueck, wenn so ca. 2 mio menschen die innenstadt bevoelkern...
das feuerwerk war dann auch wirklich top, wobei wir dann auch froh waren, nach hause zu kommen. davor mussten wir uns noch durch die menschenmassen kaempfen, aber mit glueck und geschick war das dann kein problem. lustigerweise haben wir uebrigens den ersten alkohol des abends daheim getrunken - in der stadt wars uns nicht gelungen (byo geht nicht und die lokale waren eher sehr voll)...

zur belohnung gabs dann ein ausgiebiges neujahrsfruehstueck, oder eher brunch :) niko und eva sind dann am naeschsten tag abgereist, und agnes hat sich wenige tage spaeter zurueck nach neuseeland aufgemacht. nochmals danke an alle fuer die netten tage - ich freu mich schon auf den naechsten besuch! :))
